Heat84 Who’s dumb idea was it to have a movie named Alien and another movie named Aliens? It was made worse by them coming out at around the same time. How are you supposed to tell them apart?

It didn’t seem to be a problem at the time considering the pluralized one came out after the other, chronologically it was pretty easy to tell them apart. At the same time it shouldn’t matter considering how all the movies in this universe are telling the story out of order anyhow.

Here’s the chronological order of the universe of shows and movies if you go by the year of the story:

Alien vs. Predator
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
Prometheus
Alien: Covenant
Alien: Earth
Alien
Alien: Romulus
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien: Resurrection

I think some franchise owners for movies and video games eventually get embarrassed about how many sequels they release. That’s why you end up with a movie franchise with parts 1-5, and then it changes to a subtitle like “Revenge”, and then “Origins”, and then eventually reboots to a different storyline. And then eventually that rebooted storyline crosses over with the original storyline.

Except for porn. Ironically, the one medium that doesn’t require continuity. But they have no problem naming a movie something like Lusty Backdoor Stepmoms 23.

Correct. The order of which they came out would start with Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator movies, Prometheus, Alient: Covenant, Alien: Romulus, and Alien: Earth.

Yep, the sequel to Alien. I suppose you could call it Alien 2 : Aliens. In a number of countries’ languages it actually was called “Alien 2 - The Return”.

I tried the first EP… I don’t know. The bits about the returning ship and the obvious attempts to recreate the first Alien, and the rogue ’droid were interesting enough.

The B Plot with Wendy and the hybrids was boring as heck, and felt so much like padding to fill out the runtime.

I ask again who in their right minds keeps dangerous specimens like that not under lock and key… or a deep freeze?

I’ll try an episode or two more… to give things a fair shake… but I’m going to be critically harsh and say whoever did EP1 seemingly never learnt to “hook the viewer in the first 5minutes,” so to speak.

HELLFIRE I tried the first EP… I don’t know.

Yea, I wasn’t so keen on the style of the show, too many disjointed events. One plotline a slow burn, the other plotline rushed with no explanation, I felt like I had missed an episode. Great production values, great lore, but the writing leaves a lot to be desired.

EP2, while I like the nods back to previous films – the iconic pulse rifle and the xenomorph eggs in the hold with the alert light – my biggest complaint is the complete lack of verisimilitude. You’d think a rampaging xenomorph in a small apartment would leave no survivors… never mind the new trick the android Morrow employs to capture one…

I feel exactly the same. I’m going to let episodes pile up and maybe get around to watching later (maybe). I give the show credit for higher then expected production values. Especially for a show on FX/Hulu.
