Ok I just received a note fro someone at Voip.ms asking me whyI have not finished setting up my account.
Here is her email to me and my response back to her.
Let’s see how this pans out…..lol
And yes, I was deliberately a bit overdramatic but hey if it works…….
The letter from Andrea to me:
Hello Robert,
I hope you are doing well.
My name is Andrea Trujillo, and I am your dedicated representative here at VoIP.ms.
I noticed that you opened an account with us a few days ago, but you did not complete the process to start using our services.
I know that our portal can seem a bit overwhelming at the very beginning, so I wanted to check in to see if you had any questions regarding our service. I would be more than happy to answer all your questions and help you with the configuration of your account.
And then here is my answer to her:
Andrea,
Thank you for this message.
I have been a Senior Director for a Hospital System in NYC for many years (this is not a brag but merely a statement that I will explain in this reply).
Here is the explanation: As someone who is not a novice to Terminal adapter setups and having used many voip providers over the years - I have to say the website is very unclear about how we put the puzzle pieces together.
Step 1 – My port in from Voipo is still pending and I have a FOC date of today. I don’t think I can go any further until I have a number to reference in the web portal setup.
I have personally recommended to at least 10 or more friends who were on Voipo to do this migration.
I am a contributor on https://broadbandbulletin.com/ where a great number of people are “discussing” the fact that they pointed out that the instructions for erasing and populating the Grandstream 802T are very confusing and there are people predicting that there will be a number of port outs right after porting in if they can’t get their Terminal adapters set up properly.
I do see this as a major stumbling block that is going to overwhelm your chat functionality as soon as voipo shuts down its servers tomorrow night – yesterday I tried to chat in and I was # 78 in a queue with an 85 minute wait.
Am I disgruntled? Not yet but I see this being an overwhelming black eye if the company does not recognize that so many tech professionals are all discussing the level of support and documentation being lacking and referring to terms no one has seen before because they are proprietary in nature and reference Voip.ms services only.
I appreciate the message but the reason I have not set up the rest of my account is because the video your CEO provided went way too fast and is being questioned by a lot of people in the forum discussions we are having.
I am at a loss for what I didn’t set up to complete “the process to start using your services” – no one knows what steps are needed and which ones are not –
I remain open to your suggestions but at this point I feel like the “pilot in the 737 has just passed out and I have been asked to land the plane."
So let ME make a suggestion to you and your CEO: Have someone on a voice call WALK ME THROUGH the setup. And walk me through the Terminal Adapter Setup. I will then assist the others as an advocate to making this work as opposed to the “confusion” that is taking place now.
Someone needs to develop a step by step “worksheet” that can be shared with all to follow.
The attached instructions I’ve read through and they are in fact all over the place. Why won’t someone take or place a phone call so you can have users on the system help each other. Seems reasonable to me.
I’m not cranky but you asked and I am giving you an honest reply.
I will await you response as to how we as a “community can work together to get this situation fixed.
Robert
