I un-cut the cord

Had DirecTV stream but prefer to manage fewer bills so I went with Xfinity X1. I have an XG1v4 and an Xi6. I guess I’m one of the few millennials who still prefers old school TV. Streaming vs cord tv just depends on your viewing habits. If you like shows and movies, then streaming might fit the bill. If you like news, weather and sports then you’re stuck with the good old cord. It’s the die hard sports fans that are keeping cord tv on life support. If you want your regional sports networks or ESPN then it’s the good old cord. I have the cord due to poor TV reception in my area.

The packages with live network/local broadcast stations are really identical to cable - and priced in the same range so the lines are sort-of blurred. Direct Stream, YTTV, HULU+ live TV, etc.

Also they offer the exact same packages as satellite over their internet streaming service now. plus my internet still comes through a fibercord, and then i have wired ethernet to all the boxes in my house.

Anyway, my 90 year old grandparents apparently have cut the cord for the last 6 months. just got their fiber internet the old folks home has to their apartment, 90% youtube and local channels with some hbomax mixed in that they share with mom and dad. didnt see that coming but hey its neat.

Zer0Cool usually the old folks don’t do internet. They just have that old rotary phone that’s been there prior to the breakup of Ma’ Bell and they would have the TV you changed with the pliers except TVs don’t last as long as a good old Western Electric 500 desktop phone. Those things will last forever unlike a $1,000 iPhone which you’ll get five years of service life if you’re lucky. Seniors tend to use stuff until they break. My 74 year old aunt is still driving a 2000 Chevy Impala.
