RFK Racing and Brad Keselowski have announced that they will be parting ways at end of 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season:

NASCAR star Brad Keselowski won’t drive for his RFK Racing team after 2026
By Jordan Bianchi, The Athletic - September 29, 2026
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7642794/2026/09/29/brad-keselowski-nascar-rfk-racing-driver/

Brad Keselowski, the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion and one of the best drivers of his generation, will not race for RFK Racing in 2027.

The 42-year-old Keselowski — who is also a part owner of RFK, the team named for longtime NASCAR owner Jack Roush, Fenway Sports Group and Keselowski, who are its principal owners — will finish out the current season driving the No. 6 RFK car and then step away. Keselowski and the team confirmed the news Tuesday.
:
Keselowski will also likely give up his ownership stake. The moves come on the heels of disagreements between him and Fenway Sports Group over the team’s direction, according to sources briefed on the matter who were granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive situation.

Keselowski’s future racing beyond the 2026 season is still to be determined. It’s likely he will continue to race in some capacity, those sources said, though with a different organization. Keselowski asserted the same Tuesday. “I’m nowhere near ready to be done as a driver,” Keselowski said in his statement. “I still have a lot I want to accomplish in this sport, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.” ….

NASCAR signals change coming to controversial qualifying metric
By Jamie Oakes, On3.com - October 2, 2026
https://www.on3.com/nascar/news/nascar-signals-change-coming-to-controversial-qualifying-metric/

The metric debate has heated up during the Chase, with major questions being raised about fairness when three of the four races of the NASCAR postseason have seen the fields set by it, with qualifying canceled due to weather.

NASCAR is listening. And while a change is unlikely in the final six races of the 2026 Cup Series season, change is coming. …. 70% of the metric is based on your most recent finish in the previous race. And then 30% is owner points.
:
“So you take the whole body of work, and then you take the most recent body of work, mash them together, and that’s how you get the metric. And that’s how we qualify.
:
“Do we change the metric formula? So instead of 70-30, is it 50-50? Is it some other number? ….

Good news: Right now the chance of rain for Sunday night for the Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has dropped to 40%, but that all depends on how the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move through the area.

So we could see the cup race only delayed and not postponed to Monday.

Some changes to Saturday’s schedule, though: https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2026/10/09/charlotte-motor-speedway-2026-chase-weekend-weather-updates/

Timing/Impacts in South Carolina/North Carolina:

Saturday morning: By daybreak Saturday, a round of heavy rain will move over the area.

Saturday: Rounds of heavy rain will be the trend for the day. With tropical systems bands moving in and lifting out, there will be times of heavy rain and there will be time of light rain/dry time.

Saturday night: The round of the heaviest rain will move in late Saturday night and into early Sunday morning. As the last bands pull north, there is a low-end threat of a quick spin-up tornado. These are usually very brief. Think that this system is already rotating, therefore so are these last storms.
