While I can’t find anyplace in Springfield IL that has mid-split, they’ve had it now for well over a year now, in the village of Chatham that’s 8 miles south of us; most of Chatham also got overbuilt with another FTTH provider. And many parts of Springfield have seen the overbuilding of TWO FTTH providers in many neighborhoods, if not at least 1!
BUT…I guess Comcast decided that instead of trying to stave off even more people dumping them for fiber in Springfield, they decided to put their resources into overbuilding - with HFC no less - at least TWO other small adjacent villages north of us, that the incumbent cable op (CassComm) just finished completely overbuilding their aging coax plant with FTTH; they are shutting down ALL their coax systems when they finish transitioning everyone.
