Anyone have a copy of the DSLR (or otherwise) list of HighSplit locations and phasing? Bonus if it also has the status's of each.

Not_Sure Much of the delay was in field equipment deliveries and early equipment bugs that needed sorting.

MacLeech But now they are expanding their service area, so it still doesn’t seem likely they will finish in 2027. And the fact that they are now offering no updates about progress is not confidence-inspiring.

Not_Sure Phase 1 was completed mid 2025. They started phase 2 in mid 2025 so they should be getting close to activating phase 2 areas. It took 3 years to get phase 1 completed.

MacLeech Spectrum is expanding thanks to the RDOF. All of the new rural builds are fiber.

smccloud yeah, but for the most part the people working on integrating Cox are not the same people that are in the L-Charter areas doing the high split upgrades. They aren’t going to be actively taking people away from the high split work. A lot of it is your local technicians and local engineering teams working on the plant in your area.

CBusdude Yes, but that doesn’t mean the Cox integration won’t take capital expenditures away from the high-split upgrades. No matter what Spectrum says. Just the fact that they got rid of the list of communities on their forum post seems to imply that.

Spectrum is still doing RDOF build-outs. I saw some recently between Stockdale and Seguin TX. Spectrum Maintenance Techs and contractors were running fiber.

smccloud Like I’ve said in other posts in the past, same was true under TWC. The rule of thumb is that the midwest always gets upgraded last.

It’s been that way since the dawn of time. Somewhere in Kentucky there’s probably an ancient cave painting in Mammoth Cave of an Adelphia system upgrade schedule with the midwest markets at the bottom of the list.

I will mention, anecdotally, that West Michigan is coming along in the upgrade process, at least Allegan and Ottawa counties. I’ve seen a lot of field-work being done, coupled with nighttime outages on several different circuits I have visibility on.

Their RDOF build is moving its way north from those counties as well, having originally begun around Traverse City and moving east/south well around/over two years ago.

xpxp2002 They are actively upgrading the mid-west region. Akron, Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus metro areas are either completed or underway.

Ohio is not last on the list for High-Split.

smccloud No joke. That is exactly what’s happening in my area.

I already got the letter in the mail. I talked to their chat and they told me it should be available by July 2026 at my address. They’re going to have pulled new fiber bundles across town from their CO (already done), trench fiber throughout our neighborhood, terminate new taps and peds/handholes, and install and connect the splitters/PFPs, not to mention putting OLTs in the CO in less time than it will have taken Spectrum to replace their field equipment without even touching the hardline.

I don’t have any firm dates for fiber to reach me from anyone. But do have a vague suggestion of end of 2027 (or before) from one provider. And won’t be surprised if that happens before Spectrum does anything.

jma89 Allegan is where my head end is as I live in Ottawa county. I haven’t seen or heard anyone say they’ve seen anything happening and hasn’t been an outage or service interruption in years.

Getting Frontier fiber installed Friday so don’t really care about Spectrums progress, or lack thereof, anymore. 🙂

Edit: It was brought to my intention that I mis-spoke the head end to my service. Allendale is where my head end is. Don’t know which “end” my head was in when I typed the above!

Motorola870 I don’t consider that area the Midwest, I consider Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa, etc Midwest.

smccloud It’s interesting how these variances are interpreted regionally.

With all due respect, most people in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio would typically identify as living in the midwest.

I’ve typically considered Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa to be midwest as well. If I had to be specific, I’d say “upper midwest” when referring to Minnesota and Wisconsin, and possibly Michigan – at least for the UP. The Census Bureau apparently includes North Dakota and South Dakota, too.
