Anyone have a copy of the DSLR (or otherwise) list of HighSplit locations and phasing? Bonus if it also has the status's of each.

Smith6612 GI split in 1997. NextLevel was the division that took on the HFC gear portion and renamed themselves back to GI in 1998. The housings have been in use up until now under the GI/Motorola/Arris branding for the last 25+ years. Commscope has redesigned the lids for OEM mini bridgers and line extenders that are 1.8GHz.

They seem to be using AOI drop in modules and replacing the lids in WNY. Seems to be an easy route without having to splice in housings.

Motorola870 So, you think they already replaced the guts of this node? Or do you think they didn’t change this yet?

On some other streets leading up to my neighborhood, I see the shiny Vecima or Harmonic nodes. So, they seem to have replaced the nodes with newer models.

penberth That Trunk housing node will have to be replaced. Commscope doesn’t even make drop modules for them anymore. It will be replaced with a Vecima node.

I am surprised Western New York has kept those old General Instrument nodes this long. TWC and Charter replaced all of the GI/Motorola nodes in my area around 8-10 years ago with NC4000 series nodes.

Looking at Wenatchee it seems Charter replaced all of the amplifiers and passives first before the nodes. They switched from CCOR to ATX amplifiers and what looks like 1.8GHz technetix or 2GHz ATX passives. Updated streetview from June/July 2025. Streetview was still showing a legacy Harmonic node on the streetview pass from this summer.

Wenatchee may be 1.2GHz hard to tell if the regal taps have had faceplate swapouts.

I suspect we will see a large number of areas go symmetrical by the beginning of 2026. They seemed to of not waited on the DAA certs before starting rebuilds.

Jaybonaut It was about two weeks back. But the spectrum community forums thread added the full list of anticipated 2025 completions based on city/hub and Wisconsin has a few areas listed as well as Minnesota . Nearly 100 cities listed.

@Motorola870 Any idea the radius around the listed cities the upgrades completed in 2025 list covers? Wilmar, MN is on there, my parents are 10 miles from it, and Buffalo, MN is on it, and I’m around 15 from it. But even with the new coax buried between the ped in my yard and the one on the neighbors yard, it hasn’t been terminated yet, just buried with the temporary run still in use.

smccloud What is listed is expected to be completed by end of 2025. Likely your area is slated for 2026 if you have cities surrounding your area being worked on at the moment.

Did some digging from the list and used streetview Montrose Colorado is using 1.8GHz Commscope gear

From the looks of it still using GI/Motorola 1GHz taps at the time the streetview vehicle went by. The BLE180 has a deeper lid than a BLE120 or previous models.

Motorola870 So, they are going to list each community individually? i.e. even though my parents are only 10 miles away from Wilmar, MN, until they list Spicer, MN, they won’t have any work done. And for me, even though I’m only around 15 miles away from Buffalo, MN until they list Big Lake, MN, I won’t have any work done?

I see on North Tonawanda and Lockport are listed on Spectrum’s High Split page in the comments section under The following list includes cities estimated to have upgrades completed by the end of 2025. What’s interesting, is both of those cities were overbuilt by fiber providers within the last year. North Tonawanda by Greenlight and Lockport by GoNetSpeed.

From Spectrum’s wording on the page, that higher speed/symmetrical tiers aren’t available until there is a launch date listed. Is there a typical time frame for that? Or is it just when Spectrum works out the bugs? May be 6 months, may be a year? Maybe more?

Just curious.

According to Spectrum on Reddit, Buffalo, MN, being on the list will encompass Big Lake, MN, and Willmar, MN being on the list will encompass Spicer, MN. So it appears there is at least a 15 or so mile range around each listed city for work being done. Still no clue when they will go live, but I am happy they are finally acknowledging they they are doing work rather than leaving us in the dark. Also got them to schedule a time to finish up the work for the buried coax they did in my yard, so the temporary line will be going away soon (Tuesday the 30th).

Oh yeah, I didn’t see that bottom part added, which lists these in WI:

Saying it will be over 6 months before they can get it.

Jaybonaut It may not be 6 months until these areas are live. That is just a standard statement to not hold them to a for sure schedule. North Port and Wenatchee didn’t take 6 months to go live. Wenatchee was being upgraded in July as streetview showed amplifier swaps on the west side of the river and East Wenatchee was still using CCOR gear at the time the streetview vehicle was going through dated July 2025.

Unfortunately I don’t live in any of those areas. I believe the rumor I was told here that Sheboygan WI supposedly was going to start in Q2 of 2026, so I assume that is only if there are no delays and there is equipment and people available and then it will take 6 months to a year for us to see a diff.

Spectrum swapped out a node closest to me and is there working on it right now (10:45 am).

I talked with one of the techs (he said he was out of Rochester). He said they installed a Vecima node with 1.8ghz gear. he said it is initially being set for 1.2 but could be flipped to 1.8 later? he said they are dual capable?

He said he didn’t know when the section would be offered faster speeds. They have to replace all the gear, and when they are done, then it can be turned on.

He said that our area is lucky because Buffalo was originally going to be the last section upgraded. They started in Rochester and then were going to work their way up into the North East, (up to Maine) and then back to Buffalo.

Hopefully Greenlight and GoNetSpeed forced their hand and pushed then quicker into this area.

I will get some pictures of the node later today (after the techs) are gone.

penberth I see your town names and wonder if it is in MN or NY. Damn, community names duplicated between states.

penberth From the looks of the back side of the node picture posted further down they may only be using 1GHz/1.2GHz passives with some 2GHz taps/passives as needed. The nodes and amplifiers seem to be 1.8GHz but the taps/passives might not be fully upgraded to support 1.8GHz. If that is the case they may come back in a few years and do a passives upgrade separately. They can get about 1.1GHz or more from the existing 1GHz taps/passives.

LOL, yeah. I am in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY.

My city, North Tonawanda, was listed on Spectrum’s High Split page as a pending city. So, it is good to see some movement on it.
