Maintenance every other week, nothing changes...?

Been getting these maintenance messages every other week for what feels like almost a year now. Internet never goes out, and the “maintenance” is done almost instantly (the message goes away within 5 minutes). Still on low split. Nothing ever changes, same speeds, same channel SNR/Power/Frequencies. Should I be hopeful for FDX? or What’s going on here?

Yeah, the wooden pole on the other side of the tracks snapped:

A dump truck managed to pull it down in my area a few months ago though. Took almost 6 hours for Comcast to fix the fiber cut. Dump truck pulled away with the lift on the back still raised up. The big transmission power poles didn’t snap but the strand did.

They had scheduled maintenance last night at midnight. I got confirmation when some of my IOT devices went offline. Now they just put up a notice about more maintenance tonight.

I have had enough of Comcrap after dealing with level 3 tech support for three month who insists that 600mb down on a wired connection is acceptable wand with in specs for a 1.3gbps connection. Next Tuesday Quantum fiber as coming and installing fiber! After 23 years the service in the last year has been terrible and I have had enough!

Aceq2jot so you’ve never figured out why your modem tests with good speeds and your PCs don’t?

Did your kid ever help you fix the bad Ethernet cable that didn’t allow above 95, so you could test a hardwired computer?

I’m sure you’ll let us know how the Quantum fiber performs after install….

The xfinity speedtest is quite flawed (at least in my area) running from a PC. Been that way for a couple weeks compared to ookla.

Speedtest to gateway is fine, just speedtest xfinity is broke via browser.

Edit: The xfinity speedtest will say around 400. ookla maxes out the gig connection.

Same here. The Rocket ship has not been right for me in a few years, using any browser.

Interesting here it just started a few weeks ago. At first, I was like wtf is going on…been maxing the speed tests as a normal daily check (sadly, required with Comcast), then tested internal speeds within the network. Throws you for a loop.

All IPv4 before anyone asks. And selected different regions from the Comcast speed app.

MacLeech New cables running from the modem to the 2.5gb port with latest Drivers and still cant get above 900 MBPS on a 1,300 MBPS. Level three tech support told me they tried everything and everything is within limiits so Friday i get 3 gig Quantum fiber installed.

You’re connected that new cable from the 2.5gb switch to the single modem 2.5gb port on the lower right of the four ethernet ports, correct? It’s marked port 4 and has an orange/red stripe next to it. The other 3 ports of the XB7 or 8 are 1gb.

If OP has at least two 2.5 Gbps capable devices and a 2.5 Gbps switch, then they should just set up an OpenSpeedTest or iPerf server and measure the speed across the LAN to eliminate issues at this point. One client connected via Wi-Fi 6E to the XB8 would even work (less preferred method).

That’s an issue. They’ve indicated previously they only have one 2.5gb device (which had a bad Ethernet cable), they have another 1gb device that is a work computer locked down to a VPN, and everything else seems to be on various versions of WiFi. It’s made reliable, repeatable testing more difficult.

The gateway test through the Xfinity app has been showing higher than 1gbps everytime I’ve seen him mention its use.

Install should’ve been a few days ago, so how’s the Quantum fiber? Getting 3 gig?

Some maintenance might actually be happening, as it didn’t change to “no outage” after a minute or two like it usually does. Although the internet isn’t actually out, I did start getting some heavy packet loss once the maintenance started. (it eased up to about 2-5% since).

They have to get getting this area ready for something i’d think, had Maintenance alerts since 9/05/2025 nightly almost, just skipped the weekend

Never lost sync during the previous maintenace times though, don’t know about 9/9/2025 one yet though

Yea it’s hard to say what there doing since they always seem to use the same generic message, Maintenance/Network Improvement? I’ve been on Mid-Split for almost 2 years, and I still get theses alerts just about every week. I have no idea what Maintenance or Network Improvements there performing?
