since ive been reporting xb8 and i can no longer contribute to it, may as well start a XB10 firmware thread.

Yeah that gig plan seems to be the sweet spot. I don’t really need anymore download or upload speed since most of my hardware isn’t cable of anything past gigabit anyways. I imagine it’s the same for most people.

The question for us atm is going to be what to do about our tradition TV service as I’ve heard conflicting info stating you have to upgrade to XI6 boxes and won’t be able to use our current XG1v3 or Xid-C boxes (or any X1 devices that hookup via traditional cox) on your account with FDX enabled. At the same time I’ve had a couple Xfinity reps tell us we can keep our current boxes (likely in IP only mode). So who knows for sure. The main problem is I don’t currently have an Ethernet drop in the family room and it’ll be awhile until I can get around to adding one. Wireless signal is also sketchy out there. Plus if I do all the cabeling work we might as well drop traditional TV altogether for something like YTTV on a normal Google, Apple or Roku device.

That would work but then I wouldn’t have internet in the back of the house where our computers/networking is.

Suppose I could swap my Xid-C in the bedroom which sits next to the gateway though. It’s a chance to remove a splitter. That’s if I can somehow find a tech to cut me a new longer line that is. My coax coming from my wall outlet is a little too short to reach without a splitter or barrel connector located in the middle.

looks like more updates
as far as internet goes, latency, etc. i cant tell if anything changed.

heres the latency while running a couple speed tests… imo still not too impressive especially with all their big talk about lld and ultra low latency and bs. still unstable as all hell.

videomatic3 are those pings actually going into the LL queue? LLD worked pretty good for me on the upload once I got my router to stop stripping the marks

my router gives me the option to change the dscp to 45 if i want, i dont notice much of a difference marking the icmp packets or not.
maybe it only works better if using comcast without bridge mode, but im not going to use that as an option.

videomatic3 Do you have a VPS or something that you can verify the mark is actually applied? You can also try ping from linux if you have a box setup -Q 0xb4

i am running a proxmox machine, ran a speed test using that command, just realized it made a 8 not a 4. will do again

videomatic3 Tells you there is a tos mark of 0xb8 there, dunno if comcast is still recognizing DSCP 46. I guess you would need to do a packet capture on your routers wan port and see if it’s being preserved

videomatic3 We did a test with your router a while back, where you modified the rule a bit: Instead of changing DSCP, you changed the TTL field. You then got packet loss, as expected. Your router seems capable, so just let that do the upstream DSCP marking, for now.
