MacLeech Problem is, none of the QAM boxes Charter uses have 3.1 modems in them, and they’re not making new ones.
They shouldn’t be sending anyone QAM boxes in 2025 lol
The goal is to shut down QAM so they can free up that spectrum for DOCSIS 4.0
They should be moving to 100% IPTV, like Comcast and everyone else.
MacLeech If they mailed you a D3.1 modem would you use it in place of your SB6190?
If it came with a cut off date when my current modem will stop working, yes.
That’s the only way they’re going to get people to upgrade.
The same thing happened with cellular.
Despite like 5 years of warning, AT&T still had millions of customers on 2G when it was shut down. (Including the entire San Francisco transit system, who acted surprised when really they had 5 years of notice lol)
At some point, there’s only so much you can do.
I’m asking them to abide by FCC rules.
If the FCC rule no longer makes sense, maybe it should be removed. But that’s up to the FCC, not me.
You can’t just break rules that you think don’t make sense.
MacLeech BTW, as an existing customer you could keep your grandfathered plan and out of date modem even when they upgrade to high-split
