Today AT&T (NYSE:T) announced it has closed its previously announced transaction to sell its entire remaining 70% stake in DIRECTV to TPG Capital, the U.S. and European private equity platform

There it is, AT&T is finally free from TV obligations. This deal also includes U-verse TV, which was part of the 30/70 partnership. Obviously, AT&T will still house and maintain the equipment in their central offices. TPG Capital will need to pay AT&T for this service, I think AT&T was solely responsible before closing. We may finally see the fate of U-verse TV, now that it’s owned by a third party. TPG Capital will now be free to do what they want with DirecTV, not having to consult with AT&T anymore. AT&T is now free to focus on connectivity.

The nightmare from Randall is over. The road to healing is long, but is showing great promise.

Hurk U-verse video service has been a subsidiary of DIRECTV since the partnership in 2021. Now it’s entirely owned by TPG Capital. Those are not AT&T customers anymore, they just handle billing and the servers. At least for now, the change isn’t apparent to customers.

as a uverse customer, my forums are still on the att site, my support is still on the att site, etc. nothing has been migrated.
they still even advertise alternative packages. https://watch.att.com/uverse-tv/#packages

Hurk That’s fine, to you and other customers, nothing has changed. I’d expect it to be this way until TPG Capital and DIRECTV figure something out.
