As interesting as it is, I also find it sad and depressing. Look at Comcast milking this while the competition says “Hey, Fiber!” and they are doing it faster, cheaper and ONCE. Instead of Comcast’s seemingly perpetual upgrade cycle where it takes areas like mine 5 years for today’s updates. While AT&T just across the street brings double for half the price.
As far as timelines go, I mocked up a Docsis 8 at 100 Gigs, finally. Cable is out of gas and it’s around the 2050s. I’d have used cable internet for 45 years, not counting the 1.5 years of fiber access. Amazing how far the use goes, but also very sad too when if they just went fiber, we could have had so much more, with half the work.
At one point, I even read something that said cable would run out of gas by the 2070s. I’d be 84 by that point. I’d have used cable for 66 years by that point.
