23 years on the old site. GuruGuy Edit. Went to the wayback machine and found that it was 23 years with this username. I had another account before this but locked myself out of it and just created a new one. So young and dumb back then hahahaha.

Found my page, kudos were archived too. Cool. Not as old of an old timer as many of you, but an over-10-year run is a long time to be on a website!

g121 Win 10. I installed R3dfox a few months ago for first hand usage to be able to help other users on another tech help forum I frequent. Unfortunately they seem to have stopped development on it for now.

I'll mark this topic as closed since I can now access the site without issues.. unless anyone still wants to figure out the problem for future use/diagnostics.

hello all.. I'm an old timer of DSL reports too! Joined back in 2004, but had been reading the site everyday including the news since about 99-2000. my id back then was markmich4, I lurked more than posting, but had to join here.

I guess the writing was on the wall, that site was slowly going down but for someone whoever was in charge to not even give a warning and have people have to figure out it was dead.. is just cold. A simple message on the main page wouldn't have hurt anything. just my $0.02..

MacLeech For all we know, Justin had a medical problem forcing him to take a step back, there were no real plans in place for long term site care taking, and the forum software just crashed.

That's what I figured until the comments on Reddit about the shutdown supposedly being announced in private to mods, and the mods told to keep it a secret. Additionally, it seems they stopped nginx (and some mail services) last night so the image CDN is now also dead.

The whole secrecy aspect is what irks me the most, what is the point??

At one time in the very early days, was known as POOoOoOoOps. Found DSLR due to the FreeDSL bankruptcy and phoneline lockup.

Finally had a chance to go find my user info from wayback. I joined when I was in transition between places I was living - I had an SDSL line staring in '99, but in '01 I moved somewhere rural and needed new internet access - ended up on Hughes Satellite in '02 for a few years and had been looking for hints and tips to improve it so I came here. I moved again in '05 to a place with 5mbps DSL and then needed help with voip, etc, - eventually just hanging out in Can Chat / CanPol the last 15 years.

I don't remember when I first joined DSLR, but it was in the very beginning in an old account. I closed that account and my wutsinterweb account (which someone took over and pretended to be me). I don't know about the rest of you, but the years changed me a lot. My viewpoints lean differently now to an extent.

I want to make a fresh start.
