Iran approves closure of Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil and gas route
I’ve been interested in maps, geography, and boundaries, since I was a little kid.
Too many people simply have NO idea as to these things (eg location and significance of the Strait of Hormuz).
The northeast “tip” of the Arabian Peninsula which borders the Strait of Hormuz, is the Musandam Peninsula, which you’d think would be part of the U.A.E. but is actually mainly ruled by Oman (ie: Muscat and Oman) although some pieces [are] part of the U.A.E.
It’s like Carter Lake, Iowa sitting inside Omaha, Nebraska.
Anyway this is not relevant to Iran shutting down shipping channels in the Strait of Hormuz, but as a side geography comment.
