Again what exactly are they fighting for, they have no product, because it cannot be sold, they could give it away but only an idiot would want it. Even as a novelty supported by a host of celebrity idiots, legally they can’t sell it. This is the same bullshit with unpasteurized milk, the fade of the stuff fades once another support drops dead of bacterial infection caused by contaminatination. They are fighting against established rules which came about after considerable thought and also financial losses from previous outbreaks and infection. I think the gap here is people have so quickly forgotten the issues of CJD, BSE, scrapie, smallpox, FDM, anthrax and other transmissible diseases that have cost tremendous economic losses and deaths they have no idea how bad or devastating things can be. Even now (and we saw it over at DSL) that people think rabies is a nothing burger, fixable and nothing to worry about.
These things aren’t pets, nor is a sanctuary for discarded/unwanted animals, it was a business (not a particularly good one based on the number of creditors which are demanding to be paid predating the outbreak). What they have done is both manufacturer and crowdsource outage in order to achieve an outcome which is factually detrimental to the public but allotted them more time to stay off creditors and try to make cash off tiktok.
My empathy for their “fight” ends when their actions continue to put the public at risk. The worst part is they have acted as a not so thin wedge, next time around expect exactly the same sort of hysterics & hyperbole - this might prove to be exceptional fatal for many more.
