FDA chief Marty Makary is a very distinguished surgeon but that doesn’t always carry over to other medical fields.
Vinay Prasad, the new chief of FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, has been criticized for comparing America’s Covid response to the Nazis. He was called ignorant by prominent bioethicist Arthur Caplan.
NONE of these folks has any background in Pediatrics.
And children are NOT simply small adults.
Just as it’s wrong for men to impose their will on women, it’s wrong for people who are (purported) experts in Adult medicine to impose their views on the Pediatric community.
I can tell you that the Peds folks have been pissed off for years about this.
Dr. Paul Offit (referenced above) is a well-regarded Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who has studied illnesses and vaccines for a long time.
He would have a lot of good comments for RFK’s buddies, if only they would listen.
