Why are more than 300 people in the US still dying from COVID every week?
Because people don’t live forever and they have to die eventually. 350 or so per week is, IMHO, a pretty acceptable number, and it’s probably never going to be zero in the foreseeable future unless reporting stopped administratively.
And instead of just throwing out some numbers, they should also include age ranges, vaccination status, and whether COVID was the main cause, or not.
In any case, to put that number into context, around 60,000 people die in the US every week, so 350 or so is about 0.6%. During the pandemic there were many weeks with 10,000+ COVID related deaths.
IMHO, that number likely to slightly rise with lessened vaccine uptake, and the more damaging issue with much less visibility will be hospitalization numbers.
