I know plenty of parents who have but it requires a actively engaged parents who keep their kids occupied with enough activities that they don’t miss social networking. The end result are kids who don’t really care for it because they have more wholesome activities to focus on. One of the biggest issues we have with kids today is they’re more ‘socially’ active online rather than in person and if their online life isn’t positive, it can lead to serious depression.
In Quebec, they are already whining about a recently-adopted law that aims to ban smartphones completely on school property, even during lunch/recess.
I expect this to be the rule at all schools within the next decade or so, it’s already happening statewide in many states and it’s picking up steam. The only people holding this up are ridiculous mothers who claim they need to be able to reach their children whenever they want.
