I wanted an XB10 for the WiFi-7. My two phones and two laptops are WiFi-7 capable.
I have the 1.2Gb 5-year price plan.
I signed up for it because an offshore idiot told me I could get an XB10 if I upgraded to that.
After six months of being told it was being sent and a trip to a corporate (not franchise) store, I was told I did not have an X-Class speed tier in my area, so I couldn’t get it. The X-Class speed tiers are synchronous, i.e., both down and up speeds are the same.
Then last month, I was looking through the website to change my cable TV plan, I happened to look under the Your equipment section and it said about my Technicolor CGM4981COM (XB8) gateway, “The Xfinity Gateway you currently have is out of date.” Right under that was a picture of an XB10!
So I called the main 800 number in Philadelphia and asked for an escalation. I got a callback and told them the person all the BS I was previously given, the website said my equipment was obsolete, and Xfinity’s TV ads in my area all showed the XB10. I then told her that AT&T was installing fiber in my neighborhood, and they provided WiFi-7 gateways, and why are they putting X-Class service in areas not previously served and not for existing customers?
Well, either she got tired of my complaints or was afraid I would drop Xfinity, but she ordered an XB10 for me, and it arrived in 3 days.
And even though the company line is that it won’t work on the older service, it works fine with fewer dropouts. (I knew that anyway because I read the FCC docs).
