The rag on LLM and generative AI, Jerry’s abilities as a writer, the spoof song during the credits, and Summer’s … hobby… 😆 😆 😆 😆

For me it’s season 1 - 3 that were peak Rick & Morty, season 2 was probably the best. Now it’s more like cheap self-referential jokes and the thoughtful sci-fi seems really limited…

Although I did enjoy Sunday’s Jerry episode.

The episode was fine, but I don’t think anything really made me laugh.

It felt like it was a bit of a riff on that new series Dark Matter. But, I guess parallel universes isn’t particularly breaking new ground in sci-fi, and that’s basically the most recent parallel universe show I watched.

I decided to dip back in after deleting the show from my watch list after Season 6. I see that I have not missed much, as the show still appears to be underwhelming starting with Season 7. Oh well.

Come to think of it, me neither… but I’d rather have decent sci-fi than laughs. Good point though, it seems they try too hard to get laughs with cheap humor but can’t really deliver on the humor when they go with sci-fi.

I’m apparently the minority as I rather liked the plot of giving Jerry some time with himself that didn’t :

a. have the squick from last time

b. devolve into unabashed Jerry bashing the whole episode,

c. actually left Jerry appreciative of what he had.

The reversed-Jerry/Rick put a different dynamic between the two, which I actually enjoyed watching.

By the way, anyone know the artist and/or title of the song was this episode?

I seem to recall that Morty Jr was going to be revisited this season, but based on that, I’m not feeling this one… I’m willing to be proved wrong.

A Plot of Morty bonding with Morty Jr over wanting to get to know “his mother,” and the graveyard of random Rick inventions.

B Plot of a Rick / Summer adventure, and Summer feeling left out of the adventure WITH Rick.

Honestly thought A plotline was better, and really didn’t feel the B plotline.

During the animated series’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, the show’s team announced an animated spinoff, President Curtis, centering on voice actor Keith David‘s titular character, who has been a Rick and Morty series regular since the season 2 fan-favorite “Get Schwifty” episode. President Curtis is co-created by Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano.

Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Jim Rash (Community) will round out the voice cast for the new project. President Curtis will follow the commander-in-chief and his quirky staff as they navigate a range of crises, including interdimensional diplomacy, paranormal investigations, and unexplained phenomena. EP10 I don’t know about going back to the well of Younger Rick and Diane but breaking Space Beth’s neck and giving Beth a (near)psychotic break was a twist I didn’t see coming. I supposed it finally gave Rick some closure about that part of him, plus the TNG Ship In A Bottle-esque ending put a smile on my face.

As for who Rick is boinking… and the postcredits scene 😆 😆

All-in-all an enjoyable episode IMO.

Overall, it kind of seemed like a weak season. I’m not sure if I can really pick a ‘standout’ episode. Either in terms of one that was outright hilarious, or a really well-done high-concept episode.

It kind of felt like they got away from Rick and Morty having random adventures this season and focused a bit more on other characters.
