Hello everyone! I recently had a lightning strike at my home and it fried my OBi202 that I had used for many, many years. Unfortunately I didn’t heed the warnings of others to configure a 2nd device before HP shutdown the ObiTalk service and I was stuck looking for alternatives. Luckily I found obifirmware.com that promises to be able to breathe new life into your OBi devices. The only problem is the support and guidance for installing the firmware was over on the now-defunct DSLReports website. Not to fear! Reddit users to the rescue! I scrubbed through dozens of posts and was able to cobble together guides to update your OBi2xx/3xx, OBi1xxx, and OBi21xx devices with the 3rd party software posted on obifirmware.com and links to those guides are below (Google Docs versions) I take no credit for any of the wonderful work of the folks at obifirmware.com, all props to them for their hard work and dedication to bring our OBi devices back to life with Google Voice. Ok, After taking a beat and getting all my ducks in a row, I managed to get this all working as described.
OBI202 - working great with Phone1 and Phone2, two different GV accounts and numbers.

I would guess that you are attempting to connect to GV, and perhaps the config you are using is not set to use GV-style SIP (no oauth header or something?). If re-doing the GV config procedure doesn’t work, we would need to see a syslog or log the of the SIP traffic or something to make any sense of it

EDIT TO ADD: actually can you just verify your CustomizationStatus as shown on the config gui? (or the third section of param_dump output). current guess is you are zt-param locked into non-GV, in which case you would just need to run clear_zt_params, reset configuration and start over

naf ok it says n/a for the customization status and i cant get the password for the command line to run the clear command!

I followed everything from this document but sp1 status said connected to 216.239.36.145 ; token error
Anyone know what my mistake was and how to fix it?

sutomo yea i reset the zt params and then i reset the obi and then just followed the instructions

I keep getting Connecting to 0.0.0.0;Token Error (SP1 Service Status) on Obi 202. I tried both ${DSN}_1 and blank for AuthUserName.

Can someone please help.

it appears you don’t have any internet connectivity (at least not working DNS) from the WAN port.

Hi I need some guidance on how to install the firmware. I have the 2xx, I tried to reset it to enable web interface ***0 and 30# but I get invalid option response. Any suggestions? ***0, 1# says v3.2.2.8690 is currently on it. Thanks in advance.

Are you getting an IP address when you dial ***1?

If so, have you tried to open a web page to that IP address?

primerisk Yes I was able to get the IP address but the web poral wasn’t accessible. ***3 and 30# still doesn’t work. but some how in a private browser the WebUI loads. I was able to update the firmware to 8680EX-arrynrob13.

Not sure if this helps but DNS A record ‘obihai.sip.google.com’ no longer exists in the public DNS.

I have added a local DNS record for it pointing to 199.87.144.74

My old GV devices were reporting that same Connecting to 0.0.0.0 when I discovered DNS was broken.

I also added a local A record for obihai.telephony.goog 216.239.36.145

f2s Yeah, your browser not liking connecting to the WebUI. That’s why I suggest always using a fresh incognito browser to do anything on the Obis.

Has anyone used the unit to connect to alarm phone line? The original Obi setup need to have a setting enabled at initial setup to enable phone line to operate with analog alarm system dial out. Does anyone have any insight on this option?

GV w/ Alarm phone line setup? With a little tinkering and different browsers, it finally loaded. In the original stock firmware setup, there was a setting to enable alarm phone line support. It was worked flawlessly. Now I have the new firmware, I am able to get GV calls in and out on the phone line but not working with the Alarm company as it once did. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have attempted to make timing changes but didn’t have any luck.
