Just a follow up, I have a Family member who wanted to switch from her flip to a smart phone. I talked her into going with Tracfone so she could get the same $15/mo. discount I am receiving. We bought two Motorola (G Play 24)s from QVC for $80 all in, each with a year of service and 1500 min, 1500 txt, 1.5GB data. (In other words, 2yrs/3000min/3000txt/3GB.)
She switched out of Consumer Cellular saving $32/Mo. and no future payments for two years. Everything at that point went as expected. We ported in to TF and ported to the second phone to combine balances.
When it came time to Link her new Tracfone service to her current Fios Internet service, we could not get a 2FA pin texted to her phone. Without going into all of the stressful details, the reason it would NOT go through is that she has an old Fios account from 14 years ago and is Grandfathered in with the 75Mbps/75Mbps speed. The customer service rep from Verizon said the minimum speed for this discount program is 300/300. Since her current plan is about as inexpensive as you can get due to her constantly threatening to leave, if she were to change her plan to the current offerings, it would far exceed the $15/Mo. discount.
Curiously, the rep also said that her 75/75 speed has automatically been bumped up to 300/300, which I’ve seen posted by others here on this site. She said it shows up as m300/m300 or something like that, but it does not show the required Home Internet 300/300 verbiage. And she has not been charged for the upgrade.
Anyway, it doesn’t seem like there is much interest in this plan, but in case someone who is interested gets stuck in the same position, I thought I’d share.
