First, the reason behind trading is that some countries can do so certain work better and cheaper, so they can do that while another country do the work that best suites them, and then they trade.
Cheaper. Just cheaper. That’s what China and Mexico do, and other countries of course.
While you could argue about the job losses, then how come the current unemployment rate is around 4%?
Wow, talk about rubbish arguments, that’s certainly a straw man question if I’d ever seen one. Clearly you missed the word manufacturing in “manufacturing jobs” which is bizarre considering you actually quoted it in your off-the-mark response.
You also missed the context of my post regarding manufacturing jobs but let me walk you through it. I mentioned above that we were once a GM town with around 10,000 jobs in our region, a place where everyone had friends or family who worked at GM. You had guys who weren’t too bright, who didn’t have an education, and had no marketable skills yet somehow owned a large four bedroom home, an RV, a cottage, a boat, and went on plenty of vacations with their nuclear family of 3 kids, kids that were all put through university on their father’s salary. The richest people around were high school educated factory workers.
Then free trade came about and bye bye, 90% of those jobs were shipped away.
The administration isn’t trying to bring fast food jobs back to America, they’re trying to bring back decent paying jobs for Americans to work in manufacturing again.
