I seem to have dodged major tree damage with only a few limbs here and there, others in my area are not so lucky but nothing major that I am aware of except for power outages and the Hodag Dome collapsing in Rhinelander, Wi. Now we have this coming on Tuesday night. Tomorrow Night 04/01 87% / 3 in Watching a potential winter storm. Periods of snow. Low 28F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches. Blah yuck again.

It’s just gonna be a typical Winter here in South Florida. 80 degrees except when the cold fronts are coming through.🥱

If the Canadian snowbirds are really boycotting Florida, are they just staying home or going somewhere else? If they’re just staying home, they might not want to do that this Winter.

Is Atmospheric River a new meteorological term? I never heard it until a few years ago? Was it coined by Canadian meteorologists? Is that why all the atmospheric rivers are in Canada. Atmospheric river isn’t PC for something, is it?

One familiar example is called the “Jet Stream”.
Not so much a fashion fad as clearer communication as knowledge increases.

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 300 PM EDT FOR
SOUTHWESTERN HAMPSHIRE AND WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTIES…

At 241 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Russell, or 7 miles west of Westfield, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

This dangerous storm will be near…
Westfield, Holyoke, Easthampton, Southwick, Southampton,
Huntington, Russell, Westhampton, Chester, and Blandford around
245 PM EDT.
Northampton and West Springfield around 250 PM EDT.
Williamsburg around 300 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
