I seem to have dodged major tree damage with only a few limbs here and there, others in my area are not so lucky but nothing major that I am aware of except for power outages and the Hodag Dome collapsing in Rhinelander, Wi. Now we have this coming on Tuesday night. Tomorrow Night 04/01 87% / 3 in Watching a potential winter storm. Periods of snow. Low 28F. Winds ESE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 90%. Snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches. Blah yuck again.

Probability of Watch Issuance…95 percent

SUMMARY…The tornado threat with a few supercells will increase
during the late afternoon to early evening as surface-based storms
develop across the Red River Valley through northwest Minnesota. A
tornado watch issuance is expected.

DISCUSSION…Airmass recovery is occurring across the Red River
Valley and northwest Minnesota in the wake of earlier elevated
thunderstorms. While another round of elevated thunderstorms has
formed well west into the post-frontal airmass across central ND,
this lobe of large-scale ascent will overspread the downstream
surface front and trough in the next couple hours. 19Z mesoanalysis
suggests that MLCIN has weakened. Surface-based thunderstorm
development by 21-22Z is likely.

Weak easterly components to the low-level flow between the surface
front and trough will support favorable hodograph curvature as flow
veers to the south and south-southwest aloft. In conjunction with
optimal temperature-dew point spreads, a corridor of supercell
tornado potential is anticipated. Otherwise, large hail and isolated
severe gusts will be possible as storms likely become confined
closer to the international border this evening.

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 451 continues.

SUMMARY…The tornado threat is likely increasing across northern
Minnesota as thunderstorms develop within a favorable environment.

DISCUSSION…GOES visible and IR imagery show steady vertical growth
of convection across north-central MN along and north of a warm
front and to the west ahead of a cold front. Based on recent RAP
forecast soundings, areas that have temperatures in the mid 70s or
higher will likely support surface-based convection within the warm
frontal zone where backed low-level winds are yielding effective SRH
on the order of 200-250 m2/s2. Increasing low to mid-level ascent
associated with the approach of an upstream perturbation and within
the warm advection regime should promote continued storm maturation
and coverage over the next couple of hours. Given that the number of
candidate storms appears to be increasing within this narrow, but
very favorable environment (best characterized by STP values between
3-5), the potential for tornadoes - including strong tornadoes - may
increase in the coming hours if one or more mature supercells can
maintain sufficient residence time within this corridor.

Wow, it’s 9:20AM ET here in NJ and my weather station says it’s already 86 degs F with 85% rel. humidity - resulting in a heat index temp of 102 degs F. already!

Edit #1: 96 degs F and 65% Rel Hum, at 12:00 Noon ET - Heat Index temp of 121 degs F. now!

Edit #2: 100 degs F. and 55% Rel Hum. at 1PM ET - Heat Index of 124 degs F.

Edit #3 97 degs F. and 60% Rel Hum. at 2PM ET - Heat Index of 119 degs F. (Hopefully will continue to drop from here)

One area of slight concern today, hopefully it falls apart before it builds up too much as it is aimed at my area in the northern section of Wisconsin. I don’t feel like contending with any storm damage if any today,

Air temperature 95.7 deg F
Heat index 129.5 deg F
Humidity 65%

The console is displaying “Dangerously high heat index”.

I can’t remember the last time I didn’t go out for a daily walk due to heat. The sun is intense.

GeekGirl1 Stay cool and hydrated, I try and force myself to go do a little something in the heat but after being outside all day Saturday at a family gathering I have been laying low yesterday and today, Don’t want to get too much of a good/bad thing ya know. Thankfully our heat in Wisconsin should be moving out of the area tonight with cooler days ahead. It was mid 90s Saturday and 98 Sunday, today looks like it is topping out at 89.
