One thing to look at while the community is new is resiliency planning for outages/disasters. It is one thing to have backups, it's another to actually test the backup system. Seen many forums loose data in a failure because the backup system broke or created unusable backups.
The old DSLReports faced DDOS and didn't hold up too well against them. Perhaps something like a Cloudflare Application Proxy in front of the forum would have helped. Let the provider with tons of bandwith take the hit. Other benefits come with services like that - inspection of traffic to block attacks, filtering out spam bots, etc.
