Racerbob In the same vein, perhaps Linux too? Not that i have-or-know Linux, but there's plenty of Linux fans. The main factor that kept me from bothering to learn Linux, is because I have MagicJack that's associated with Windows. I still remember those days when MS was into aggressive marketing. I remember it because (at the time) i knew how superior WordPerfect was to MS-word, and cringed at how MS was winning on the basis of sheer propaganda.

Thank you for taking the time to create this site. Its certainly going to take some getting used to, but in time hopefully the community can find this and continue where dslreports left off.

What forum software is this? I don't recognize it. Can you add images? I see an image button but it wants a URL? I take it we have to host on our own (like an imgur site or something similar)?

SLC_96 I created this community to be the spiritual successor to DSLReports. DSLReports, after decades of service appears to have been shutdown.

I just saw this post that says

Comcast/Xfinity Direct did post on DSLR that 'Direct' would Shutter IIRC Dec 20 2024.

Which means they might have been notified?

a few questions:
-to keep things manageable, can we create discussion groupings like Canadian, Tech / Special Interest, Broadband and Networking, etc like was in DSLReports?
-can an individual user order the discussions on the "all discussions" page .. so we can put our personal go-to discussions at the front of the list
-can we Direct Message individual users?
-i don't understand how/what the Tags feature does on the discussion page.
-when i'm making a post, i get the option to preview .. but when i created the very first post of a new thread, i didn't get the option to preview. once i posted, i could then edit & the preview option was now there.

Thank you indeed... let us know if there's anything we can do to offset the cost of running it. I know hosting's come way down in price over the years (you do not want to know what I was paying when I had a server in collocation), but it's still not free 🙂

taraf I had servers in colo back in the day, I remember the expense. For the benefit of everyone the goal is to be self sustaining.

SLC_96 I have servers in two colo’s but it’s my day job. Yes a 48U rack with dual power and dual gig Internet handoffs is about $1300 a month here. This is for about dual 5kW 30A feeds. More power or bandwidth is more $$.

Direct messages are on the road map. I see an extension for it so it should be doable.

As far as I can tell there isn't really a way to create grouping like you describe. I will order the forms by type and alphabetical so they make some sense. Tags represent each individual forum such as Comcast, AT&T, Bell etc.
