Dks01 There has always been whining by engineers that they don’t need any “artsy fartsy” courses. Nothing could be further from the truth. Usually their complaint was followed by a generic homophobic or sexist remark, showing why they actually needed to take off their blinders. Nothing wrong with talking about separatism in a university level course. After all you will encounter it in the workplace.
Get off your high horse. You completely misunderstood my question. I was wondering if they were classes in humanities as this is a more likely forum for such discussion than, say, a statistics class. It was pure curiosity. Nothing there about whining (or looking down or whatever the hell you might think I was saying). When I did my CS degree, I was one of the very few who took advantage of the few credits we were allowed (outside of CS-related classes) to take classes in humanities (history, in my case).
I’m retired. I’ve encountered plenty of separatists in the workplace during my career, even before going to university. I don’t need more of that shit in a software engineering class where the first thing the prof says on day 1 is, “We have way more material to cover than we have time allotted this semester.” Well, stick to the program, keep the propaganda for the meetings of the “Jeunes péquistes.”
