KingB71 If there was an east west canadian pipeline over to the east coast it would sit idle, there are different types of crude oil and after that disaster in Quebec town the east coast plants run either on the stuff from Venezuela or what is extracted from the shelf. I am not against a pipeline in canada but it only needs to as far east to quebec city if you want to export Albertan crude over into the Atlantic. The oil lines that supply ontario unfortunately run though the US so those ones should be logically built first for reasons that are obvious. Not long ago the govender (actual governor not an insult) of Michigan was threatening to shut off this pipeline (pipeline 5) which would have had immediate and devastating results for us so steps must be made to ensure our national infrastructure isn’t passing through the US. This also makes it much easier to remove US things from traveling through Canadian land, waters or air space which likely will be necessary given the increasing unhinged actions from the oval orifice.
Cuba and Canada have some similarities, we are both social nations with programs which are meant to support the population rather than fund a vast useless military complex. Unlike the sort of thing we have seen over Greenland, Panama and of course our home I would leave it up to the Cubans to decide. Improved trade between the nations would be a start, the US loves to control sugar but Cuba also grows it and is not part of the US dominated system. We buy there stuff and vacation there, they buy our stuff and perhaps in time more could happen, but even if it doesn’t we are both ahead (unlike the US which just irrevocably fucked over over 100+ years of trade/good will in very short matter of weeks). As the old song goes, good bye Miss American Pie, soon that chevy will have a levy that is sky high. Unlike Russia and the US, the efforts to unite both nations should be cooperative rather than offensively destructive.
Circling back to the airline industry which has seen massive drops in travel (American’s don’t see a 75% as significant amount when they are used to seeing 1500% increases on their drug prices, though the ramifications are simple enough for school kids around the world to understand). Canadians should be booking trips within Canada, it’s not as exciting as Europe but there is a lot to see and do here, with higher demand the airlines can add more flights to those routes.
