OzarkEdge This TV Listings website stopped loading today in MS Edge:

The script I had been using for scraping the listings for xmltv listings stopped working about three weeks ago. There is a replacement script that’s working. But I’m guessing it won’t last long.

While looking around today for a new TV Listings site, I think I learned that a more robust solution than scraping would be to subscribe to SchedulesDirect and use their API with one’s own tool to access TV Listings data… a bit more respectable/reliable than scraping (if I understand scraping) but then you’re paying SD ~$35/year to see what’s on TV. If the TV Listings data is to support an Electronic Program Guide of some sort, then the TV/EPG enthusiast might not mind the small annual fee for direct access to TV Listings data.

OzarkEdge One issue with that Local TV Guide one is that it’s not very customizable. I do also use Titan TV, but you can create fully custom listings that are a mix from different sources. I have a mix of antenna and Philo.

How far out do you need in the guide? If you have a free Sling TV account and an AirTV DVR you get their guide out for a week ahead for free and the ability to set series recordings.

OzarkEdge That seems to be what most people are using now.

I kind of wanted to have a totally free solution. And, I am very content with how my setup works and formats the output. But, it is true that scraping is not a very respectable practice.

I may eventually relent. I found some alternates that I think I mentioned upthread.

ugly95 Plex seems to provide its own HDHomerun guide, so I’m still rolling with that, I was using Zap2it in a docker container for my Jellyfin testdrives but that’s gone too.

People seem happy with Schedules direct, hopefully I’ll get around to trying it next time I spin up a Jellyfin install.

Hello - old DSLReports user and been lurking for a while here.
From the reddit r/cordcutters subreddit a Redditor posted

For grabbing the xmltv data, this one seems to be working.

The issue is that this one doesn’t seem to format the data to mark episodes as ‘new’. In npvr, all episodes will be marked as new.

The perl branch seems to work better for me: https://github.com/jef/zap2xml/tree/historical-perl

In npvr, the perl branch will properly mark season and episode data as well as highlight new listings.
