Greetings

DrStrange

Hopefully, we can get a discussion started here.

Inauguration for Monday moved inside, so anybody who was thinking about the William Henry Harrison scenario can forget it.

We should probably decide if we want a separate place/category/whatever for politics, or if we can just behave ourselves here.

ElQuintron

Following this for testing purposes and because I liked this forum back in the day

DrStrange

I'm willing to have a civil debate here. Maybe we can do that without the sock puppets and trolls.

ElQuintron

DrStrange Agreed, and may start also posting Canadian News here too, or world news from Canadian sources.

DrStrange

I have no problem with that.

If things stay quiet enough, maybe I'll post a welcome in French to Vidéotron. 🙂

DrStrange

Of course, then, somebody would ask for CanChatFR

ElQuintron

DrStrange We should definitely ask for that

Adalicia

DrStrange
You're optimistic.

DrStrange

Adalicia Could always go back in the wayback machine and get usernames from there, then see if they exist anywhere else. Maybe I'll do a couple of searches in French to see if anybody posted anything. Thinking about starting a French-language thread on Reddit/r/dslreports.

ElQuintron

DrStrange I hit up Tigerlord on Reddit and Discord, he also speaks French.

DrStrange Inauguration for Monday moved inside

Well, the cold day in Hell has arrived. 🙁

DrStrange

ElQuintron Merveilleux. 🙂

Somewhat-Reticent

DrStrange The wayback machine has many pieces, by date, AFAIK.
Might be possible to (re)build an archive of DSLReports from them.

ElQuintron

Somewhat-Reticent Welcome! in all fairness to HLF, it's been there for a while, and most people who want what we're offering will make an account here as well as on HLF (if that's what their jam is) there's no reason to be "mutually exclusive" type of thing.

One of you should translate this reddit post into French please:
https://www.reddit.com/r/VideotronCustomers/comments/1i54hlf/if_you_used_dslreports_for_videotron_help_heres/

ElQuintron

bbbc I can do this after 6 PM Eastern if no one gets around to it.

Here you are:

"Si vous avez utilisé Dslreports pour obtenir de l'aide sur Vidéotron, voici le nouveau site"

Un nouveau site similaire pour les réfugiés de DSLReports a démarré avec un bon flux de l'ancienne clientèle -
https://broadbandbulletin.com/d/2-welcome-to-broadband-bulletin

Voici un autre site vers lequel certains membres de dslreports, dont les opinions politiques sont de droite, ont migré. Malheureusement, il manque de nombreux forums techniques :

DrStrange

ElQuintron look mine over and make sure I'm not using old words or European words which look funny in Québec. It's been a while since I was up there.

ElQuintron

DrStrange will do, I am email notification and looked good at 1st glance.

ElQuintron

DrStrange Hey, made a quick stop home and gave this another read... I think you're good to go with this.

The last bit about "Dernier Instantane" might cause some confusion amongst French Canadians and Quebeckers, but the only thing I can think of on top of my head is "Derniere Archive" which is worse French but more Canadianized.
