Humans don’t have radar or lidar, and we can drive just fine.
And as other videos have pointed out, lidar actually has severe problems in rain and fog.
Heavy rain and thick fog appears as a solid wall to lidar, and it gets confused.
You can even see in Mark’s video, the car with lidar is unable to see through the wall of heavy rain. It appears as a solid wall, which is why the car stopped.
JRB-Ware I wonder why they had an employee of the lidar company drive the car with lidar but not a Tesla employee drive the Tesla. Just the dude running this “test” with a death grip on the Tesla wheel yelling waaaaa as he drove thru the “wall”. Watch the video. Sanctimonious bullshit.
Oh and best buddy from the lidar company donated a lot of bucks to the dude’s interest. No conflict there. Dude needs to be sued down to his underwear. But he’s got a lot of sycophants rooting for him.
Mark’s response made even less sense.
He was like “Oh, I don’t really know how full self driving works. I didn’t know they were different. I didn’t really put any effort into learning about the differences, or how the system actually works.”
