Thought I'd make a thread like I did for my "My Cable Problems" But hopefully this will be an all good thread. Not using the provided router, its speed and range is pretty good, but features even basic settings it does not have. Did have it installed at my parents house in my old spare room since it was easier and 600ft less of digging. And still utilizing the fiber I have our houses connected together with at 10gig. Using a UDM Pro for the Router which is at my house along with a U7 Pro (love/hate) At my parents house on a VLAN for there network using a NanoHD and U6 LR AP's over there. Still trying to decide if I want to enable IPv6 or not. Just a bit freaked out that EACH device gets there own public IPv6, but I guess security wise its still safe and firewalled.

So it looks like they are adding 3x the OFDM capacity for the 2gig speed tier.

My node got moved to a new CMTS according to a trace route and now have a 192MHz + 96MHz OFDM blocks. CMTS mac OUI is still Cadant. Tops out at 940MHz now.

Motorola870 To use a vCMTS with legacy nodes, they install an rPHY shelf like the Harmonic Reef or CommScope e6000r connected to the legacy transmitters and receivers in the hub.

Motorola870 Not sure why they would start at 11AM and it be down until near 6PM It was a pretty big massive outage for during daytime hours.

Usually with that timing and length it’s an accident or vandalism that damaged the fiber.

Can confirm - appears it went out over here about midnight and came back 10 minutes later per my notifications.

For just 10 min, maybe a OLT firmware update and reboot or upstream switch, etc…

Looks like Vyve is now rolling out fiber. Not sure if we will ever get it. But its in Lake lure now! Apparently offering up to 8gbps down and up! 8 gig for a whopping $325 a month before taxes! 2000/2000 is $100.

If they EVER offer fiber. I MIGHT consider it, if there routing is better than Spectrums. lol.

edin Yikes! My ISP SECV is doing FTTH now too, 8/8 gbps is $122.35.

They put conduits and new pedestals in our neighborhood. Once they get all the underground prep work done, another contractor will pull the fiber.

Finally got around to upgrading my home server, only limiting factor with it for now seems ram lol. Soon will be moving my web server over to it as well (currently had it seperate running on a different machine) Saves me money no longer having to pay for a VPS since I have fiber now lol.

Have a 14TB and 8TB in a RAID0 for NVR storage for 13 total cameras on the network its nice to have an NVR makes accessing the cameras so much faster than using the built apps for the two brands I use.

Still deabting if I’ll keep running the stream due to power costs, it seems to eat up 20 watts alone when streaming due to using the iGPU.

But since having fiber, I have most certaintly make use of it! Its almost been a FULL year since getting fiber, I still cannot believe we got it! Vyve has been sending mailers twice a month to sign back up lol. But oddly enough their website says the address is no longer serviceable… LOL

It looks like you have about 32gig of ram. The cost of ram has skyrocketed substantially in the last year.. kits that used to sell for $200+ are now going for $600+ depending on brand / specs. Actually now has 64GB of ram haha snagged a 64GB kit for $220 on eBay. I have 96GB of DDR4 in my main desktop.

I recently sold a 32GB ddr4 kit for $100 and another 32GB ddr4 kit for $140

Its a prebuild so had to do a bit of rigging to get extra drives in. But all in for $533. i7 13700, 64GB RAM, 1TB gen4 NVME. So pretty great price! The computer was brand new on top of that. The other storage drives etc I already had. If it wasn’t for limited space I’d get a PCI-E sata card and add 3 more 8TB drives to replace my nas, but was already a job to cram 2 HDD’s and 1 SSD in it lol.

Well Vyve F’d up today…. UNMARKED black truck with Georgia state plates went up the pole, neighbor called asking if I knew anything cause their Cable TV and Internet went out after he left… So I went out to look. They put a d… TRAP on the neighbors line, while keeping our old line connected that is CUT underground 🤣 Best part? They can’t send someone out for their “outage” until FRIDAY

And now some poor Tech support people are getting yelled out because of it. They are pissed.

edin Did they replace the tap? looks like they may be upgrading the area. I remember Vyve installing a old General instruments tap back when they upgraded the area to 750MHz. That looks like a 1/1.2GHz regal tap.

cypherstream Yeah, but they don’t like change, even though its a LOT cheaper. They’d save a ton on just the TV and internet alone, and even more if they switch their cell phones.

From what I remember they are paying around $250 ish a month for Analog TV (no cable box), Internet, and VoIP phone.

Funny when they downgraded their tv package they lost fox news, And then unhooked the cable box and got fox news back LOL. So I wonder if they will get trapped for the lower package when they come to hook them back up. That’ll prob be the kicker that gets them to switch
