Penguins are playing terrible hockey. And Skinner let in 3 stoppable goals, 2 of the really bad variety.

chuckles can’t help it, the disgust is too deep .. ever since the atrocity of the “Fred Shero” era, to this very day, tis still my least favourite team ..

if there was a “Hockey Hall of Shame”, Shero & company (Clark, Shultz, Dupont, Saleski, Kelly, Bridgeman, the list goes on & on) would be star members ..

It’s a series where you can’t really tell whether the Flyers are playing well and shutting down the Penguins, or the Penguins are just playing terrible hockey. Pittsburgh was fun to watch during the regular season. They look nothing like that team in the playoffs.

It’s probably a little bit of both, but considering the Penguins don’t seem to be able to make a 20 foot pass without throwing it 3 feet out of the reach of their target, a lot of it feels self-inflicted rather than the Flyers being a particularly good team. Pittsburgh’s strength, their depth, has been completely invisible. Mantha is a 30 goal scorer. You wouldn’t have even noticed he was playing until he blew any chance at a comeback with a puck over glass penalty.

two great examples of superb players who played a hard, physical game without goonery ..

Larry Robinson (Canadiens)
Big, strong, intimidating—but positionally elite
PIM: moderate for such a physical presence

Börje Salming (Maple Leafs)
Took insane punishment, played physical minutes
Stayed remarkably composed despite being targeted constantly

Salming is my all-time favourite player ..

I’d put Tkachuk as one of the most overrated hockey players in the league.

He almost single-handedly killed off their 5 on 3 PP.

Reports are that Sanderson is out with a concussion after the Taylor Hall hit.

We can probably expect both the Sens and the Pens to get swept. There really isn’t any sign that either team is doing anything that can turn the series around.

I was wrong on Pittsburgh. They looked a little better, but mostly just played well enough not to lose. Silovs played well. The Crosby set up for Letang’s eventual game-winner was a highlight. Still not really anything convincing that they are going to turn the series around.

Bruins getting blown out this afternoon. 4-0 right now. Buffalo has let their foot off the gas and the Bruins are starting to get tons of chances in the 2nd but can’t finish on anything.

Ya, I grew up a Habs fan (Sens fan now) so it is not hard for me to root for the Habs.
Plus the atmosphere in Montreal is insane.
I think it’ll be Anaheim-Montreal for the cup.
