I always find the beginning of the season interesting. Because of the small sample size you end up with some strange aberrations. Then you get to see how those things unravel. Are the Leafs really going to be a bad team, or just a slow start? Is Montreal a top team?
Then you get a team like Boston, who we expect is on a downturn, but being on a 6 game losing stream 9 games into the season is rough. Likewise, the Devils are on a 7 game winning streak 8 games into the season.

Malkin (3-10-13), age 22
Crosby (2-9-11), age 21
8 games into the 25-26 season:
Malkin (2-10-12), age 39
Crosby (6-5-11), age 38
Ovechkin has 7 points in 8 games, at 40.
Kind of crazy how this generation of generational talents has managed to have such longevity.
