I aint rooting for the Canes, I’m sick of FLA teams in the finals, as a Skins fan I won’t root for any team from Dallas so,….go Oilers I guess?! 🙂

What about getting hit dead center in the forehead by a puck moving 90mph/145kph? That had nothing to do with it? My problem with your comment is not citing the contact with Bennett as a cause, but ignoring what most likely did most if not all of the damage. I don’t think the contact with Bennett did any damage, but if it did, blame the league and maybe the Leafs. In the NFL, Stolarz would’ve been pulled from the game right after the puck hit him in the head, evaluated, and put on the concussion protocol. I knew the NHL was macho about injuries, but I thought it was just the players and the coaches who were like that. Not the team doctors and the brass. Maybe what happened with Stolarz will spark a policy change. Does the NHL even have a concussion protocol? Obviously not one like the NFL has.

The contact by Bennett wasn’t intentional. He was concentrating on the puck. Maybe he should’ve been more aware of his proximity to Stolarz, but it wasn’t intentional. If the NHL had a proper concussion protocol, we wouldn’t even be talking about the Bennett contact because it would’ve never happened because Stolarz wouldn’t have still been in the game.

But you do have to wonder how the series would’ve played out if Stolarz didn’t get hurt. 2 of the losses were 6-1. Maybe Stolarz would’ve prevented a couple of those goals from going in, but he wouldn’t have changed the outcome of those games. But games 3 and 4 could’ve went differently.

Goaltenders get hit with the puck all the time. That is just a contact impact from a small object that the mask is designed to absorb, there is no sudden twisting or jarring of the brain because of a strong impact that the brain bounces around in the skull.

The stealth chicken wing from Bennett clearly showed a sudden rotation of Stolarz’ neck. The symptoms started shortly after with the vomiting and continued, that’s why he was taken to hospital.

Hopefully, with a copmetent coach, Pittsburgh can properly make use of Karlsson. They need somebody on D. Letang was always a bit overrated, and his age is showing.

This round I went 3 for 4. I got Washington wrong. This time I did get a series length correct, with Dallas in 6. So, overall, I’m 8 for 12 on predictions.

I can’t really maintain a bracket anymore. I called for Carolina in the 1st round, against them in the 2nd. Against Florida in the 1st, and for them in the 2nd. And against Dallas and Edmonton in the 1st, and for them in the 2nd. So I have no real continuity.

East:
(M2) Carolina
(A3) Florida

Florida in 5

West:
(C2) Dallas
(P3) Edmonton

Edmonton in 6

I feel like Florida and Carolina both play a similar style. Not very risky. Shot quantity over quality. Focus on defence. Florida just has better players, and Anderson has a lot of letdowns under his belt.

I haven’t watched much of the West. But, Edmonton seems to be growing stronger as the playoffs go on. Dallas has a good roster, but I’m not really sure if they’re playing to their potential.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand, you would think only a doctor would know for sure which incident the concussion occurred on. But on the other hand, you would think Stolarz would know which incident hurt him more. Didn’t he vomit after the puck hit him in the head?

Why is the word confirmed being used? How can Stolarz confirm a concussion if he’s not a doctor?
