They went way upscale, into the luxury niche. I'm in my 70's. I remember buying cheap watches there. Several years later their "cheapest" watch was $129. More recently, I needed a raincoat. All they had were $200 trench coats. Screw that noise.
Not quite, at least not in the past 20 or so years.
The best I can describe it is schizophrenia, they have value oriented brands and they have high end brands and the value stuff isn't that bad but the higher end brands are grossly overpriced and the only time you can get anything at a fair price there is when they have a sale. You basically have two options, cheap clothes or expensive clothes and nothing fair in the middle.
Like around Christmas time, they had some great sales and I bought a bunch of great Levis pants, a mix of jeans and chinos, the prices were great. But when they're not on sale the price was jacked higher than everyone else. When they have sales the sales can be pretty good but they don't do a good job marketing the sales and the rest of the year the prices suck.
