Sticking this here as I see no where else it should go. I have been using Vivaldi as my daily pretty much since they began as I was having trouble with a few sites on Firefox. There are a lot of settings in this browser that you can tweak to your liking.
Although intended for general users, it is first and foremost targeted towards technically inclined users as well as former Opera users disgruntled by its transition from the Presto layout engine to a Chromium-based browser that resulted in the loss of many of its distinctive features. Despite the fact that it is also Chromium-based, Vivaldi aims to revive the features of the Presto-based Opera with its own proprietary modifications.
Vivaldi replaced Firefox as the default browser on the Manjaro Cinnamon Community Edition Linux distribution. As of December 2024, Vivaldi claims to have 3.1 million active users.

Guy54435 When I tested it years ago, it felt a little heavy and clunky to use. Perhaps this is no longer the case, but I do remember users saying it felt a little sluggish.

It's my browser of choice as well. I was also a user of the old Presto-based Opera.

I like all the built-in features. Particularly mouse gestures, rocker gestures and the email client.

ugly95 Yes when I see posts around wanting this and wanting that in their browser I always tell them Vivaldi can do that and so much more. Internet down no problem Vivaldi has you covered, with its own built in game, Vivaldia is an arcade-style runner game by Porcelain Fortress integrated into Vivaldi. The game is available for both online and offline playing on desktop and Android.

Vivaldi has been my main browser ever since it first was released... I migrated from Opera after Opera's moves away from customizability following Opera 12.18 - and have never really looked back. Even so, I probably only make use of 25% of Vivaldi's features.

Dustyn It seems quick enough for me but then again I have other factors fighting against speed of browsers. Maybe give it another chance and see how you like it. For what ever reason I forgot to link to The Vivaldi features page in my original post so I will so so Here.

Seems to be a problem with the Address Bar settings after this update lots of reports stating so, hopefully fixed quickly. It figures that going against what I have always done has come back to bite me, I never update any software of any kind on the day of said release unless its a world ending matter in which case I just wouldn’t use the computer for a few days, Anywho for whatever reason I did this update the day it came out and guess what yep you guessed it, a screwed up update, Grrrrrr.

I’ve seen some complaints. But for me, it’s been a significant improvement. Always seems to auto-complete the site I’m typing and the result comes up instantly. Previous versions tended to have a long delay before auto-complete for me.

There may also be some new ‘crashers’ involved in these 7.2 releases (perhaps relating to interference between some recent significant chromium changes and Vivaldi’s unique user interfacing techniques). Personally, I’ve not encountered any crashes with 7.2.3621.63, but I don’t use many of Vivaldi’s bells and whistles, so I seem not to stress it as much as some other users. In any case, I always wait a day or two and watch their forum threads before updating my Stable versions - in this case, I’ve elected to hold off on the minor update to 7.2 mainly because of the continuing crash reports I’ve seen.

I did tweak my settings a bit. In the Address Bar settings, there are a number of checkboxes under Address Field Prioritites.

I have:
Enable Bookmarks - Unchecked
Enabled Boomark Nickhames - Checked
Enable Search Suggestions - Unchecked
Enable History - Checked
Enable Frequently Visited Pages - Checked
Enable Direct Match - Unchecked

ugly95 Thanks for that yes that is how mine is with the exception Enabled Boomark Nickhames - Checked is unchecked AND Enable Frequently Visited Pages - Checked, is not even offered at all, Hopefully a fix will come soon, if it does not i will either live with it or Reinstall from scratch- yuck

ugly95 I got my “menuing” fixed I think, at least it is more like before this last update, I did that by disabling the new address bar (‘omnibox’) in vivaldi://experiments suggested from here
