Hershey's chocolate in general is just awful.

I find most chocolates and sweets these days to be awful compared to how they used to be 30+ years ago. Too many substitutions were made in creating these things to bring sugar levels down and/or save money and nothing tastes like it used to.

I sometimes buy Lindt dark chocolate (when it's on sale) and I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the regular price was now well over $5 (either $5.29 or $5.79, can't remember). I think that's roughly a $1 increase over the previous regular price (can't remember for sure, it had been on sale for $3.79 for a few weeks at Super C).

Chocolate prices are a a 50 year high due to soaring cocoa prices. The reason I heard was poor weather conditions and diseases impacting crops in West Africa.

This is true. Nestle and Hershey are unaffected by their minimal use of cocoa 😉
