Pope Francis In Critical Condition. The End Is Nigh?

Some people think the prophecy is bunk. I'm confused. He's in critical condition but he's alert. I don't think I've heard of that before. My idea of someone in critical condition is they're unconscious and hooked up to machines.

Pope Francis’ condition suffered a “sudden worsening” Friday afternoon after “an isolated crisis of bronchospasm,” but the Vatican later said the crisis was over and that he was resting in good spirits.

In the early afternoon, he suffered the bronchospasm, which “resulted in an episode of vomiting with inhalation and sudden worsening of the respiratory picture.”

A bronchospasm is when the muscles in the bronchi, the airways that connect the lungs to the windpipe, tighten and cause airways to narrow, limiting the intake of oxygen, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

He was bronchoaspirated and given noninvasive mechanical ventilation, which he responded well to, the Vatican said.

I'm praying for this good man. He's been brave enough to move the meter more towards a reasonable place. I just hope whoever takes his place is like him in the good ways. My roots are Catholic so I care. A lot of folks are pulling for him. With the world going crazy right now with bullies everywhere, this gentleman has defied that trend and he deserves our best for him.

And this is NOT to knock his Holiness, who is a good and decent man.

1) Isn't the whole point to be able to get into Heaven at a good time ?
If he seems to be bound for Heaven after a full and long life, isn't that to be celebrated, not regretted.

2) Likewise, isn't everything supposed to follow God's will ??

3) Why would anybody be praying for his entry into Heaven to be delayed, especially because (presumably) in Heaven he will be free of trouble and pain, and will be even closer with God.

I would say the point would be to want to be able to get into Heaven. I don't know if there ever is a good time though.

I think the problem is that we don't really know what happens to us when we pass away. If we go by the bibles and I mean all of them, they say we go to Heaven if we are good and to Hades if we are bad.

The hope is that when we pass we will be reunited with our love ones in Heaven. Some people believe that when we pass away we are reborn into a new person. We also have people that believes that nothing happens we just stop existing.

I am Jewish, but I also am part Roman Catholic from my Dad's side. Which is why we also celebrate Christmas and Chanukah. My SO is Atheist. I also picked up on some of his beliefs as well.

I think some of the fear comes down also to, and hopefully this part doesn't really offend people. This is kindof the Atheist part coming out, but when you read the Bible. Everyone says that G-d is good, very loving and forgiving.

However, in the Bible its made out that he is very angry with humans. He tries to kill the first born (Abraham.).

Causes a great flood that kills both humans and other creatures. Granted he made a promise never to cause a flood like that again which is reminded by seeing rainbows. This goes on and on.... I mean then we have the book of revelations.

I remember this one guy I worked with at Domino's when he caused me to out myself. I usually don't bring up my sexuality and usually keep it to myself. I really don't care if anyone knows, I just don't being it up in conversations since there are people that can't stand someone that is Gay.

This happened around 1999, and this one guy told said to me, don't you want to go to Heaven. He told me that because I was gay I would not be allowed in.

Now he was making different types of remarks to me which I just took in stride and didn';t let it bother me. However, I really pissed him one day when he said that remark to me. This time I just said with a straight face that if there is people like you in heaven then I wouldn't want to go. I rather go to hell with the rest of the gay people as you repeated say to me.

I was like, the stuck up people will be in heaven and the gay people will be in Hell having an awesome party.

I was actually being serious because I don't want to be around people that are bigots.

Now back on topic even though my experience above sort of relates.

I don't personally keep up with the Vatican. However, I am glad the pope is doing better. I would hate to see that he has to suffer before he passes away.

I'm not entirely afraid to die and I don't want to overstay my welcome here in life. But I have loved ones that need me badly. Dying isn't so scary, it's the process that is.

Hopefully they use a "point system" like the Motor Vehicle department does for driver licenses.

Very few people are totally good or even totally bad.

Personally I am not a fan of any religion that says you can be evil your whole life, as long as you apologize at the last minute. Seems like getting a free ride.

Wow, that was a very insightful post. The trouble with the Bible is that it is grossly out of date--there should be a 2nd edition for the modern and hopefully more enlightened world. Among other things, it loosely embraces things like slavery and shuns people who are gay or lesbian and therefore embraces hate and prejudice while at the same time professing to embrace forgiveness. One thing I can say about Pope Francis is that while he has not totally repudiated the Bible's angst against gays and lesbians he has encouraged and allowed priests to give gays and lesbians blessings, and this is to be admired. Personally, I am an atheist and believe that the whole ball of wax is with your time here on Earth and that therefore you should make the most of it and not be a victim of the delusion that it is ok to suffer here because things will be better in an afterlife. Karl Marx said that "religion is the opiate of the people," and he was just pointing out that it is a tool of the upper classes to give those suffering with their oppression a reason not to rebel against the same because things will be better in heaven. Another problem is that all those who believe that they will go to heaven will IMO never really see or experience anything after their demise and will therefore never even know that they were fooled. One more thing is that while is it ok to be forgiven for I will call transgressions instead of "sins," the best approach is to try and do your best for others whenever possible and not fall into the trap that it is ok to do wrong because you will be forgiven. It is not ok to do wrong or harm others--that should be what guides anyone who considers themself a decent person. My GF always says that those who go to church to be forgiven have it all wrong and that she believes that she doesn't have to go because she always tries in every way to do what is right in the outside world (she is pretty much agnostic I would say).
