This website uses different terminology than you may be used to. Some websites may use the term, forums, here we call them tags. Similarly, other websites may use something called threads, here they are called discussions. You can add your favorite Tags to “My tags” for easy access. You can dismiss most stickies by marking them as read. You can’t dismiss super-stickies. Click on the unread indicator from a list of discussions to mark as read. You can hide all discussions with a particular tag. This way they won't appear on /all view. You can ignore individual discussions. You won’t be notified about them, and you won’t see them in your discussion list. When viewing a discussion, press the triangle next to Following, then choose Ignoring Notification Overload – Check the settings page to make sure you don’t get overloaded with notifications. Many people like to disable these: (1) Someone creates a discussion in a tag I'm following (2) Someone posts in a tag I'm following. You can search within a discussion by clicking on the down arrow next to the reply button. Hover over a user avatar to read their bio. You can reply with an inline quote by selecting the text you want to quote, then press quote. Pick an emoji by pressing : then type the name of the desired emoji. Ignore the regional_indicator lines, just keep typing the name of the emoji you want. To get a permalink to a post, click on the date of the post.

SLC_96 IS there no way to get a drop-down list that SHOWS the emojis? That seems pretty standard, I have never had to look or type a name of an emoji.

CTL CMD SPACE on a Mac. It would be better if the software supported it. Also, I just found out moderators cannot delete single posts? WTF??

What was said was that Mods cannot "lock" individual posts. I'm assuming "locking" a post would mean that no one can reply to that post.
They can delete them.

That is not accurate. We can and have deleted single posts.

You are correct and I read it as meaning they could not delete. Did anyone post the reasoning for using this software? I did ask but never saw an answer @SLC_96 ?

There are other free forum software. If it is because @SLC_96 was familiar with it, then ok, but otherwise it seems to be "less than" the other available options.

Sorry, this thread is going off from the intended purpose. I know I seem to be complaining a lot but the reality is the software sucks overall. That said, I appreciate what has been done with the creation of the site.

PL1 It's also very extensible and open source, but like many extensible things (and this is my opinion, and not necessarily the rest of management) they start off pretty barebones and you customize it to meet your needs. It's probably the second best thing to writing it from scratch.

I've tamed it to be usable for me by ignoring every tag I'm not interested in, and then as I see a thread I'm not interested in, I ignore that as well. This took a lot of work initially, but now it takes very little effort to maintain. My landing page is https://broadbandbulletin.com/all

The best commercial forum software I've used is Fora (VerticalScope) used by AVS, Tivocommunity, howardforums, etc.

I've done exactly the same thing, and (for me), it's a lot easier now than a couple weeks ago. In addition, I use a browser with a bookmarks bar, and I've got a few favorite BBB 'tags' bookmarked there for quick access to just those areas.

Things are certainly different here than from DSLR, and it takes some getting used to... but that's the case as well with almost all software alternatives that are different from what one's used for a long time. I'm just grateful there's a place to go now that DSLR is gone, and that somebody has cared enough to create this site.
