So what is next, the FTC going after mom & pop stores if they chose to hire people that they feel is better for their business and community? If the administration wishes to alter good policy into something perverse then that is their prerogative. But should they be allowed to force private corporations to alter theirs as long as they comply with law? Reminder, policy is not law.

Going to be interesting to see how this will play out with these companies. I am wondering if there will be plans to go after other companies as well besides media.

I know that some companies have already scaled back their DEI programs. I think I seen an article that stated companies like Mcdonalds, Walmart and others have as well. I wonder what is going to happen to companies that decide to keep their programs.

Just gotta see what's next.

Tonight was the SNL 50th Anniversary show on NBC/Comcast.

Was scheduled for 3 hours, actually went 3.5 hours.

I honestly thought at several points in the show that they were purposely taunting the FCC, with some scenes of heads being chopped off with blood squirting too (repeat of some old skits), women grabbing male crotches etc in the UFO Pentagon skit, and some other intense twerking and grinding.

I do NOT mind any of that (well maybe they should not show the heads being chopped off), but I really think that NBC/Comcast was giving an advance finger to the FCC chair.

See what happens to Costco. Their shareholders voted to keep their DEI programs in spite of the fact that the US government is attacking DEI to feed their culture war bullshit.

urbanriot No, more like they're going after large media entities that are catering to activist investors in hiring people that check emotional boxes at the expense of hiring competent people who don't check those boxes. Regardless of how people want to frame it, DEI initiatives are racist, ageist, sexist, or against certain sexual orientations.

But what business is it of the government to change the legal hiring policies of private corporations? Yes, large media entities are the subject now but what is to stop them (or the next political party in power) to force smaller entities to conform to their ideology?

I honestly don't know if that is true or not.

For example, making sure that one person gets a fair shake, does not have to mean that another person gets a bad shake.

Likewise, making sure that LGBT people [are not] discriminated against, does not mean that other people [are] discriminated against.
