Anyone have Rogers pure fibre?

Symmetrical speeds up and down?

How reliable is it?

Gee I have it at my cottage on Lake Simcoe. I only use it from May to October, but I did WFH for a few days, and it was good.

Rogers has such a small footprint of actual fibre to the home not many have it.

I'd be curious if anyone that was previously on RFoG has been converted to pure fiber? I know the second phase of the neighborhood behind me is still on RFoG and the last time I talked to anyone they hadn't had a pure fiber install.

Wish I did …. Infrastructure is in place but Rogers decided that fiber to the node would suffice on my street for the time being …

Rogers is only doing Fibre to the Home in New Buildings and New Subdivisions, although their may be a few exceptions.

I have had it for over a year. I use the Nokia ONT followed by my own equipment. They do not support /56 prefix on IPv6. Only /64 for pure fiber (contrary to cable). Which is a major downer.

As for uptime, the only time I lost connection was when the fiber was physical cut by hydro contractors. Was down for a week before Rogers got a temp installed. That temp has been in place for a year now and I been having a hard time getting to them to come and bury it.

How is the latency? Do you get a static IP? Does it require a login?

Gee First hop lantency is good. Basically 1ms to reach Rogers. After that, depends on the route of course.

Like cable, the IP is assigned via DHCP. Officially it is dynamic. But practically will never changes unless you change your modem mac address or disconnect long enough.

I have Rogers fibre to my unit which started as RFoG and was later upgraded to an actual ONT and symmetrical speeds. The only time I had an issue is during the country wide Rogers outage.

My setup is ONT to UniFi equipment, the Rogers "modem" was removed within 5 minutes of the tech leaving, that was a few years ago and it's been that way ever since.

I speedtest at or above 2.5G symmetrical at times.

I'm very happy with the service.

(disclaimer have 3 GB Bell Symmetrical fiber but paying $218/month for Internet AND TV)

I pay $160 plus tax per month for 2.5G, Popular TV and one additional TV box.
