px_eliezer_ Given the choice between one defective U.S. design, whether obsolete or not, and a newer U.S. design that is almost guaranteed to be very late and still defective, given which company got the contract, I vote that we choose neither. The simple fact of it being a U.S. design carries with it the same drawbacks and risks, meaning that one is not any more appealing than the other in this climate.
In addition to the extreme difficulty in coming up with a sound design that meets its specifications and delivers on its promises in that country to the south, the man in charge has done his very best to teach us that his country is not a dependable or trustworthy partner. Eisenhower tried to give us the hint decades ago, and we were too quick to forgive, but if we’re too stupid to get the message now, then I don’t know what to say.
