Price increase for existing Wow customers? Or just a higher cost to upgrade?

If I want to upgrade my 300/20Mbps plan to 600/50Mbps, Wow wants to charge me 33% more than they did before! That upgrade is now $60 when it was only $45 a few weeks ago.

I was hesitant before with the $45 price for 600/50 (as I don't really need it), but they've made my decision for me at this point.

It has been around a year since they started the current speed tiers, and new pricing was introduced (and data caps were dropped). I switched from 1Gbps for $50.99 to 300/20Mbps for $30, as they dropped the data caps here (metro Detroit) and I didn't need the higher speeds.

Did anyone get a price increase on those higher plans? I feel the increase on those middle two tiers is pretty high.

I know with the "WOW!'s Price Lock Promise" the prices shouldn't go up, but does anyone pay for that?

I wrote down their prices 2 weeks ago, and just checked again, and the prices have not changed for my zip code. (same $30 to $95 range). So, the price increase must be local to your zip code only.

You're checking while logged in and choosing to upgrade and you see those options? or you're logged out and at the main screen looking at new customer pricing?

The new customer pricing on the main screen hasn't changed here (SE Michigan), just the upgrade pricing when logged in for current customers.

Nope, I didn't log in, I just typed in a zip code. I didn't know what you meant by "existing customers" until now.

humvee This is specifically the way the pricing has changed on the upgrade page for current customers. A few weeks ago, the prices offered to me (on this page) were the same as for new customers.

I am in The metro Detroit area and used to have WOW. ATT fiber is in my area and 1G fiber is available for $80 here new users. That is what I have and the speed is around 950 down and 930 up. I am still paying $70 for 1G fiber as they slowly raised it but still a good deal for that speed. I have no TV service, just an antenna which picks up all local Detroit stations where I live.

As many have reported, they don’t actually get 1GB with Wow’s cable internet, and I’ve had the same experience, if you need those speeds, then going with fiber is a no-brainer. Plus, you get higher upload speeds, too.

The main reason I’ve considered the 600/50 is just for the faster upload speed, 20 is fine most of the time for me, but for the occasionally bigger uploads, it’d be nicer to have faster. I only had the 1Gbps speeds because of when they had the higher data cap (and a great price of $50.99), but once that went away, I dropped down to the 300/20 for $30. Faster is nicer, but generally not worth the cost to me.
