fmd meerkathalon The power levels seem valid, so the modem is seemingly able to range on the channels (they are not being blocked), but elevated noise could prevent further communication
To follow up on that transmit power. Usually, the CMTS uses absolute power values (dBmV) when adjusting the modem’s output power. It does that for the legacy channels (those below 85 MHz), but for the FDX channels, it uses relative values (dB).
The modem has a reference that it uses to set its output power. The power values it receives from the CMTS are relative to this reference. Fx. if the CMTS sends the value 1 dB, the modem sets its output to the reference + 1 dB.
If the channel is down / ranging hasn’t occured, the modem uses a value of 0 when displaying the power for that channel (reference power + 0 dB).
In this example, it seems 0 dB is being used for all three FDX channels, indicating that ranging hasn’t been successful. However, you’ve shown other examples that show different power values, so something seems to have been communicated from the CMTS in those cases.
I’ve seen examples of conflicting provisioning files, where modems seemingly have been configured with the correct speed, but another setting has disabled some of the upstream channels at the same time (the modem shows them as not locked) - making it impossible to reach the configured speed.
I’m not sure that applies to you, though. I take it that it hasn’t been fixed yet. 🙂
