While we wait for the announcement that N+X deployment has officially begun... Unified is the new version of FDX that has downstream going all the way to 1.8 GHz (currently limited by old taps). The return still stops at 684 MHz. Comcast has presented this spectrum layout to begin with: This is sufficient to offer symmetrical 2 Gbps. When more of the legacy channels go away, higher speeds can be offered. 3.1 modems that get FDX-L (limited) firmware can use the FDX channels.

Do you have actual boxes there? My low voltage stuff just has a frame for the face plate to screw into.

soxrok2212 Wow, there are a lot of them for sale! Probably tied to someone’s account on the backend though, which would prevent activation, but I could see myself holding on to a secondary power supply in case mine fails.

videomatic3 It’s too messy to do on Broadcom devices. The CM side runs a monolithic eCos binary that I have no desire to reverse engineer. It’s not fun to work with. Much easier on Puma 7, all Linux based.

Yeah unfortunately mine are all hard plastic new work electrical boxes from when the house was built in 91.

I managed to get one out in a bedroom once using something of combination of pliers, a mini keyhole type saw blade, and a large flathead screw driver but it was pita. Basically I ended up breaking enough peaces of the box out until I could get at and then pry the nails out the stud it was attached to. The whole process took like an hour and much swearing 😆

crucialcolin here in Chicago one my service addresses just got notice of overnight maintenance on 10/16. This service address currently has an OFDM channels on 150 MHz and 900 MHz. Lowest channel is in the low 300s. This might be the final maintenance before FDX is launched there. Hopefully that 150 MHz channel is gone after they finish. 🤞🏼

You need one of those multi-tools with a vibrating blade to do flush cuts. I have one of the Ryobi battery versions from Home Depot and find a lot of uses for it, but I’ve seen cheaper corded versions at Menards.

Yeah their usually around $40. HF has a tool in their Hercules battery line which I’m invested in but it’s still like $80. Both are a bit expensive for just cutting one box unless I end up finding additional uses for it.
