In our case, yes, a backflow valve would have prevented all of our issues. My sister however had most of the water coming through their foundation, which has never happened before, but backflow Valve would not have helped them.
Something like 75% of St. Catharines has combined sewers. My parents house is newer, so it has separate sewers, but then it gets down to the end of their street and it combines again anyway.
