He was only with ELO for 7 years or so, none the less they where a very good band and really cared about the music they produced, sadly that level of musical art can no longer get air-time, yes it is excellent music but the world of music distribution has become so corrupt, highly talented bands not only have trouble getting exposure, they are being ripped off of their royalties which is where the true wealth for artists is at.
I am a low level recording engineer, however every quarter I receive a check that averages around $600, fast forward to today a person like me would be making at best $25 per quarter, if that much.
When it comes to R&R, it’s dead due to greed by others than the artists, mostly so called managers who like a leech siphoned a huge cut of the artists income while doing very little for them.
C&W is doing a bit better mostly because artists of that genre are getting smart and are self managing, following the lead of Don Henley, who being both a great artist and a business man realized the Eagles manager they had at the time was screwing his band over, he fired the manager then became the bands manager and because of that change in management most of the members of the Eagles are now millionaires and doing rather well.
