Outage in CT? (edit: it’s just me)

I haven’t seen any other posts about this on Reddit, so assume it’s just me.

My ONT (FOX222) only has a green power light, all other lights are out. I’ve power cycled it a few times and the power light will flash green during boot - at the end the Optical light flashes on once or twice before going out. Based on router logs I lost connection overnight around 12:30a.

I reached out to Frontier via Twitter and have an appointment for a tech tomorrow afternoon, but in the mean time does anyone know what just the power light being on means? And is there anything else I can check prior to the visit?

shade I'm in Milford, north of RT 1. All is clear here now, 10:50ish ~~10:50is~~ on Sunday 9-Feb. My upstream link health shows nothing unusual over the past 48 hours. No packet loss and ping times to the first Frontier hop after my router in the 6ms range.

It sounds to me like the ONT is pooched.

I’d wager bad ONT and/or bad power supply. The optical light would be red if the ONT wasn’t at fault but there was no light signal going to it.

In the New Haven area. XGS-PON ONT FOX222 is connected and working fine (three green LED's) all morning. No apparent loss of internet for days.

Appreciate the feedback all, I’ll update the title to reflect that it’s just me.

The drop coming to the house looks fine from what I can see outside, guess I’ll just have to wait for the tech tomorrow and see what happens.

shade The drop might not be damaged but a couple things could be wrong:

Line techs sometimes disconnect people at the pole, happened to my friend. I don't know why techs do that but they should get in trouble for it. Perhaps if a split has too many users on it?

Moisture in the splitter or the drop coupling.

Of course, the ONT could be sunk too, or the power supply.

Or a problem at the CO or even the company disabled accidentally.

So many preventable causes that are common.

Moisture can freeze at a splitter, at the compiling at your drop pole (what is the coupling called, I forget) moisture in between the two fibers where the contact.

Most of the guys that do fusing and all are real pros, but not everyone does a good job closing and sealing the box.

No not happening, the outdoor connectors automatically seal when connected.

Techs came out a little earlier than expected, kind of surprised but I’m not complaining. Light level readings were good both outside and inside so they just swapped out my old ONT with an FRX523. Once that was provisioned, updated and rebooted my router pulled an IP no problem.

The tech who swapped out the ONT did not seem happy that the original installer used a double ended power cable for the old ONT - he mentioned seeing it cause issues in the past. Not sure if there’s any truth to that, but I’m just happy to have the house back online.
